Empowering WINNEBAGO COUNTY for a brighter future.
Vote Gordon Hintz on February 18, 2025 - Spring Primary
Why I’m running
I’m running for County Executive to help create a stronger and more prosperous Winnebago County.
We need to hold our leaders to high standards, and demand hard work and accountability.
I am determined to meet these expectations and rebuild confidence with the public, and trust with the County Board.
Whether you live in an urban, suburban, or rural community, I will be a County Executive for everyone who calls Winnebago County home.
I believe my experience in federal, state and local government has uniquely prepared me to be an effective administrator at the County level.
My administration will prioritize:
Involving, representing & being accountable to the public
Improving access to mental health and addiction services
Carrying on the important work of providing other vital human services and caring for an aging population
Building upon our innovative practices in our justice system while increasing public safety
Investing in quality-of-life initiatives
Promoting economic development
Supporting expanded opportunities for housing supply
Working to balance fiscal responsibility with investing in our community's critical needs.
I always focused my legislative career on finding ways to positively impact our community. I maintain a keen understanding of the operational and political decision-making of government at the federal, state, and local level - and how to engage organizations and individuals. And I look forward to serving the residents of Winnebago County.
GORDON’S ACCOMPLISHMENTS
MaximizeD Private Gift Fund Management for Schools and Libraries
Hintz co-authored bipartisan legislation that enables school districts and public libraries to allow private gift funds to be managed safely and effectively by community foundations – such as the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation. This allowed for increased flexibility and financial management expertise to adequately manage significant gifts received to benefit their organization.
UW Oshkosh Building Projects
As a member of the State Building Commission, Hintz played a key role in pushing for state funding for UW-Oshkosh’s first new academic building (Sage Hall) in almost 40 years.
New Milwaukee Bucks Arena and the Oshkosh Herd G-League Franchise and Arena
Gordon played a key role in helping pass a law that created the financing of the new Milwaukee Bucks arena, and personally lobbied for the Bucks G-League team placement in Oshkosh. Without the new Bucks arena, the NBA team would not have remained in the state, and Oshkosh would not have the Herd.
Helped Create Jobs at Oshkosh Corporation and Mercury Marine
In 2009, Rep. Hintz supported the $35 million Enterprise Zone created for Oshkosh Corporation. This performance-based economic development tool provided tax credits for new jobs created, assisted Oshkosh Corporation in winning their major family of medium tactical vehicles (FMTV) contract, and was extended for additional contracts. In 2010, Rep. Hintz supported up to $70 million in tax credits that along with local government financial assistance, ensured that outboard-engine maker Mercury Marine would not send hundreds of jobs at a Fond du Lac factory to a non-union plant in Oklahoma after the local union approved contract concessions.
Gordon secured $500,000 in matching funding in the 2009-11 state capital budget helping the Grand financing the repairs to the main roof trusses of the opera house that ensured that the opera house — built in 1883 — would remain open.
Repairing the Oshkosh Grand Opera House
EAA Frontage Road reconstruction:
During the 2011-12 sessions, Rep. Hintz worked with state and local leaders to secure matching state funding for the 2012 resurfacing of the south frontage road alongside the EAA grounds entrance.
